Different Options for Air Filtration

You may be surprised at how many options there are available for air filtration in your home. Most homeowners are familiar with the air filter that comes equipped with a ducted HVAC system. Forced-air systems like furnaces, heat pumps, and standard air conditioning units have a filter which must be replaced every month or so to ensure proper operation and to help you to continue to get the proper level of particle filtration. Unfortunately, these standard filters generally don’t rid the air of every particle, and smaller ones can still continue to circulate through the ducts and cause illness or aggravate respiratory problems. Check out a few more of your options for air filtration in Cary.

Trane CleanEffects™

The standard air filter that comes with your air conditioning and heating system was actually designed to protect your unit from debris instead of reducing airborne pollutants. That’s why they don’t always provide adequate filtration, but a Trane CleanEffects™ air cleaner can provide enough supplementary filtration to eliminate most of the contaminants common to your home. First, particles over 0.3 microns in size are trapped by a filter, but then it also charges smaller particles so they stick to a plate of the opposite charge. These are up to 100 times more effective than a standard HVAC filter.

Lennox PureAire™

The Lennox PureAire™ is another extremely effective air cleaner, removing 95% of particles up to 0.3 microns in size, and eliminating 90% of bioaerosols up to 0.1 microns, like mold. With a combination carbon filter, UVA lamp, and MERV 16 filter, you can rest assured that many of the most common allergens and respiratory irritants in your home are taken care of.

GPS—2400

The Global Plasma Solutions GPS–2400 ionization generator is an air cleaner installed directly inside of your indoor air handler, which is the source of many of the allergens that appear in your home. It produces ions to send into your home which can break down gases that cause odor and kill mold spores and viruses in the air.
