How Ductless Air Conditioning Can Save You Money

Monday, July 2nd, 2018

ductless-blowerIt is impossible to argue against the fact that the split central air conditioning system remains the most popular of all whole-house cooling systems in use today. The central AC that we all know and love has a lot going for it—and its method of distributing conditioned air throughout an entire house via a centralized system of air ducts is certainly a major improvement over loud, inefficient window units. That being said, there are other options out there to consider.

The ductless mini split is certainly one of the most enticing, even if some homeowners are not yet privy to the many benefits that it has to offer. While they’ve long been dominant in many commercial applications, ductless air conditioning systems have become incredibly popular in the residential sector over the years, too. You can count on us to install your ductless AC and to handle any other air conditioning service in Durham, NC the right way, every time.

Why Choose Ductless Air Conditioning?

Monday, June 19th, 2017

ductless-blower-and-remoteWhen you hear the term “ductless air conditioning,” what do you think of? If your answer has anything to do with those inefficient, inconvenient window units that leave homes unsecured, then you’re way off the mark. Ductless air conditioning systems, or ductless mini splits, offer whole-house cooling in the vein of traditional central air conditioners — but with some very unique benefits, as well.

While these benefits, which we’ll detail further below, are definitely enticing in nature, it is important to remember that no air conditioner, including ductless mini splits, will function as effectively, reliably, and efficiently as possible if not expertly installed and serviced. Air Conditioning Question: How Does Ductless AC Work?

Monday, March 11th, 2013

If you’re in the market for a new AC, ductless technology is an innovative way to cool your home efficiently. Installing a ductless AC system is a great solution to energy loss associated with ductwork. It may also be able to help prevent moisture and allergy problems common in homes with ductwork. In this post, Raleigh Heating & Air would like to show new and current clients about how this technology works, so that they can make informed decisions when it comes to choosing a new AC system. For ductless air conditioning services in Raleigh, NC, call us today!

Ductless AC has two major components: the indoor air handlers that are installed high on the wall or in the ceiling, and an outdoor unit, which houses the condenser and compressor. They are attached by flexible refrigerant piping and electrical lines that run behind the walls to each of the indoor units, and these lines are connected to the outdoor unit. This separation allows for quieter operation of the entire system. The air handler blows the cool air into the living space, extracts hot air, and pumps it back to the outdoor unit, along with any condensation that may have built up.

The advantages of ductless AC are extensive:

  • No air ducts. The US Department of Energy estimates that 25% to 40% of cool air can be lost within ductwork that has gaps, cracks, and loose joints. Faulty or damaged ductwork requires maintenance and repair. By sidestepping ductwork entirely, ductless AC avoids many of its issues.
  • Energy efficiency. Ductless AC tends to offer greater energy efficiency than conventional systems. Many of the more recent models have SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficient Ratio) ratings of up to 23.
  • Zone control. Ductless systems allow you to customize your living space by using different air handlers for various parts of your home. You can set one room at 70 degrees Fahrenheit, while keeping the bedroom off until you go to sleep. This allows for efficient cooling as well.

We hope this brief guide helps you understand how ductless AC works as well as its advantages. If you need air conditioning installation in Raleigh, NC, call Raleigh & Air today!
